Each November, members of the Local I-60 are able to nominate themselves or other members to be on the election ballot of Union Officers. All officers serve a two-year term in their respective position, with certain positions being on odd or even years.

This year, nominations will be open for the positions listed below. Positions which are not listed below are due to be elected in the fall of 2017.

  • Secretary (Statewide / At-Large; Incumbent Diana Overton)
  • Treasurer (Statewide / At-Large; Incumbent Diana Overton)
  • Vice President, Central Arizona (Maricopa & Pinal Counties; Incumbent PJ Elias)
  • Vice President, Southern Arizona (Pima & Graham Counties; Incumbent Jerry Toigo)

Nominations will be held during the general meeting on November 9th, 2017. The Central Arizona meeting will be held at the UFCW Local 99 (2401 N Central Ave, Phoenix, Arizona) at 9:30 AM. The Southern Arizona meeting will be held at the Fraternal Order of Police (3445 N Dodge Blvd, Tucson, Arizona) at 4:00 PM. 

Any Member in Good Standing may nominate eligible members, including themselves, for office. Members do not have to be present to be nominated. During the meeting, each member must clearly say the name of the member and the office for which they are being nominated. Nominations may be submitted in advance of the meeting by sending an e-mail to nominations@locali60.org which clearly states who is being nominated, the office/position of nomination, and the name of the person submitting the nomination. E-Mail nominations received after 4:00 PM on November 9th, 2016 will not be accepted.

Nominees shall have seventy- two (72) hours from the close of the nomination period to accept or decline the nomination. To accept or decline a nomination, the candidate must give written notification to the Election Committee. If the nominated candidate does not notify the Secretary of his/her intentions to accept or decline the nomination within 72 hours, then that nominated candidate will be removed as a candidate. After accepting the nomination, the Election Committee shall provide each candidate a copy of the Department of Labor guidelines for Office Elections. Each candidate is responsible for knowing and following the rules.
