2020 Elections

Special Election – Vice President (Maricopa)

Ryan Thompson (Local I-60 Trustee) was elected by acclamation of the membership to fill the vacant Vice President position representing the members of Maricopa Ambulance and will assume the position on July 1st, 2020 and his term will conclude on December 31st, 2021. Mr. Thompson received nominations from seven (7) members, and was the only member to receive a nomination — thereby running unopposed and winning by acclamation.

On May 19th, the Union provided an e-mail notice requesting address verification for the mailing of the required nomination notice and informed all members in good standing of the upcoming special election.

On May 30th, nomination notices were mailed to the last known address of all members in good standing, and an additional email was sent on May 31st with all nomination information.

With Mr. Thompson’s transition to Vice President, his position as trustee/steward will become vacant. The executive board will be working to address this vacancy and further information will be provided at a later date.

Thank you to all those who updated your addresses with us during this process and those who participated in the elections process by submitting nominations.

By-Law Changes Impacting Elections

In November 2017, and again in June 2019, the members of the Local adopted revisions to the Constitution and By-Laws which impacted several aspects of officer elections, most importantly finalizing term-lengths to be three-year terms for terms beginning on or after January 1st, 2018, with the exception of Secretary and Treasurer, who’s new three year terms shall begin January 1st, 2020. As a result, both Secretary and Treasurer shall be open for nomination and election in the fall of 2019
